TC Shore Field Hockey club was formed from the clubs Team Chesapeake and Shore Field Hockey.  Both clubs had the vision and goal to develop young field hockey players and help them in their hockey journey.  Both teams serve the same general area and at first, one was more geared toward indoor and one was more geared toward outdoor.  This was good because the girls had the opportunity to play both but as the teams evolved and started competing in both indoor and outdoor at the same time, each team did not have enough to field a successful team that could compete at higher levels.

In the fall of 2023, a plan was hatched to merge the teams for a trial season starting in the spring of 2024.  The tryouts were fruitful and we were able to field a u12 team (7v7), two u14 teams (7v7), two u16 (7v7) teams, two u19 teams (7v7), as well as a u19 team for JPOL (11v11). After the trial run of combining the two clubs to play together in 6 tournaments it was decided that the two clubs would join permanently.  Since joining together in the spring of 2024 the club has already had success.

2024 Highlights:

  • USA FH Hockey Festival- Pool Champions
  • JPOL (Junior Premier Outdoor League)- Region 7 u19 Champions
  • East Coast Cup- u19 Champions
  • East Coast Cup- u16 Champions

  • United Sports- May Day- u16 Champions

Team Chesapeake (TC) began in 2004 as an indoor club to fill a need in the community and grow the game in the off season.  In 2018, Team Chesapeake began their spring outdoor teams & tournaments to continue their mission to grow the game in our area and fill a need that was in demand by their players and families who aspired to play at the collegiate level.  Many TC Indoor and Spring players were also asked to play with Shore at Festival and Disney because of the shared players and families and common mission to grow the game within the same four county area they decided to merge!

Shore Field Hockey started in 1997 by Debbie McQuaid and Susan Pusey. Together they formed Shore Field Hockey to offer high school field hockey athletes opportunities to play in national tournaments – the National Festival and the Sunshine Showcase. Over the years, they have held countless clinics (both outdoor and indoor) and aided in the development of Eastern Shore athletes and provided assistance during the college recruitment & placement process. Upon the devastating passing of Susan, Shore Field Hockey lost some momentum as she was Debbie’s friend since college and coaching partner for over 30 years. With the help of Shore Field Hockey’s past players, Julie Phillips Corson and Missy Cannon Helgason, Shore was reignited to continue the legacy. As we revamp this club team and join with Team Chesapeake our goal is to keep their vision alive and to grow the love for this sport.
